THE INDUSTRIALISTS OF MARIUPOL ANNOUNCED THEIR INTENTION TO FORM PEOPLE’S SQUADS IN ORDER TO RESTORE ORDER IN THE CITY.

Mariupol industrialists are going to help restore order in the city and restore the work of metallurgical plants.
To this end, the Metinvest group on May 9 announced a decision “together with the municipal police to create people’s squads from among the workers of metallurgical plants.” Starting May 11, they “will start patrolling the city and protect civilians,” said Yuri Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest, Yury Zinchenko, and Azovstal, Enver Tskitishvili, in a joint statement.

WHAT ARE THE INDUSTRIALISTS CALLING FOR?

“Blood has been shed in the city. This happened on Victory Day, May 9, which is holy for all of us, ”they reminded. According to them, “the life of Mariupol is paralyzed, the city economy is being destroyed, the quiet work of metallurgical plants has been disrupted, and this is not only work and wages for the townspeople, this is the economic foundation of the Donetsk region and all of Ukraine.”
The heads of industrial enterprises urged “to abandon the practice of conducting large-scale battles in the peaceful cities of Donbass with the participation of the armed forces, the use of heavy equipment and weapons,” noting that “the Ukrainian military must immediately leave the city.” “The authorities can and should still hear the voice of the residents of Donbass. The authorities must ensure peace and tranquility in cities so that people can live and work in peace,” the message says.
