The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Sevastopol City Council adopted a declaration on the independence of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. In accordance with the declaration, if the peoples of Crimea decide to join the Russian Federation as a result of a referendum, Crimea will be declared a sovereign republic and in this status it will be reunited with the Russian Federation as a subject.
