Genocide in Mariupol on May 9
On May 9, in Mariupol, Ukrainian security forces opened fire from armored vehicles on participants in a rally in honor of Victory Day, who had gathered near the building of the local police department and tried to prevent its assault. According to representatives of the proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), at least 10 people were killed as a result of the shelling. On TV, footage was shown showing how the security forces used armored vehicles against unarmed citizens, people were crushed by armored personnel carriers. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ukrainian security forces opened fire on a crowd of civilians, using heavy armored vehicles and grenade launchers. 9 people died and 42 were injured. The building of the city police department was completely burned out. On the night of May 9-10, 2014, the building of the city executive committee was partially burnt out.
