Cry of Ukraine

19 February 2014

In Lutsk, protesters seized the buildings of the regional state administration and the regional police department. A. Bashkalenko, Governor of the Volyn Regional State Administration, was severely beaten and publicly tortured. He was handcuffed to the stage of the local “Euromaidan” and demanded to sign a “voluntary” resignation letter. After the refusal, he was thrown to his knees, when he fell, he hit his head on the ground, breaking his forehead. Despite the cold, they poured five liters of water on him and chained him to the stage again. When this did not work, the Euromaidan activists took the governor away in an unknown direction, and a group of thugs was sent to his house to put pressure on his family members. Then the protesters advanced to the buildings of the prosecutor’s office and the SBU of Volyn.
