Chronology of events in the Volyn region

1 December 2013

About 8,000 people took part in mass protests.

2 December 2013

The first attempts were made to forcibly seize the building of the Volyn Regional State Administration (OSA) by the forces of supporters of the Batkivshchyna VO. The attack was repulsed by the police.

24 January 2014

The building of the Regional State Administration in Lutsk was seized. Chairman of the Volyn Regional Council Volodymyr Voytovich and his first deputy Yury Lobach wrote letters of resignation during the assault.

19 February 2014

In Lutsk, protesters seized the buildings of the regional state administration and the regional police department. A. Bashkalenko, Governor of the Volyn Regional State Administration, was severely beaten and publicly tortured. He was handcuffed to the stage of the local "Euromaidan" and demanded to sign a "voluntary" resignation letter. After the refusal, he was thrown to his knees, when he fell, he hit his head on the ground, breaking his forehead. Despite the cold, they poured five liters of water on him and chained him to the stage again. When this did not work, the Euromaidan activists took the governor away in an unknown direction, and a group of thugs was sent to his house to put pressure on his family members. Then the protesters advanced to the buildings of the prosecutor's office and the SBU of Volyn.

23 February 2014

Employees of the prosecutor's office of the Volyn region turned to acting. Prosecutor General of Ukraine with a request for protection, since the militants of the "Right Sector" force them to resign from their posts, and in case of disagreement they threaten them with firearms.

27 June 2014

Several dozen militants of the "Right Sector" in camouflage and balaclavas burst on Friday afternoon into the building of the Volyn Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Volyn region.  On the fact of the attack , in accordance with the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a criminal case was initiated under the articles "Hooliganism" and "Interference in the activities of law enforcement officers."

Several dozen militants of the "Right Sector" in camouflage and balaclavas burst on Friday afternoon into the building of the Volyn Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Volyn region.  On the fact of the attack, in accordance with the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a criminal case was initiated under the articles "Hooliganism" and "Interference in the activities of law enforcement officers."
