THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE


The protesting residents of the region announced the establishment of the  People's Council of the Donetsk region . The People's Council announced its intention to create the Donetsk Republic and become part of the Russian Federation after a referendum on this issue no later than May 11. The Donetsk People's Council also adopted an appeal to Russia with a request to bring in a peacekeeping contingent.

PROTESTERS OCCUPIED THE SBU BUILDING IN DONETSK


In Donetsk, protesters  occupied the building of the  regional department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) at night. This is reported by local media. "The people's militia of Donbass at 3.32 in the morning, organized within 15 minutes, captured the SBU of the Donetsk region," the Internet portal of the Ukrainian newspaper Vesti quotes the statement of the participants in the action. At the moment, there is "strengthening the perimeter of the building to repel a possible assault."

Protesters in balaclavas and with machine guns entered the building of the Donetsk City Council. Supporters of a referendum on the rights of Donbass hoisted flags of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on local government buildings in  Novoazovsk  and  Krasnoarmeysk .

DONETSK UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE


The protesters  continue to control  administrative buildings in eight cities of the Donetsk region. The city councils of Zhdanovka and Makiivka, the mayor's office of Mariupol, the city council in Kramatorsk, the executive committee in Khartsyzsk, the police department in Gorlovka, the city council and the police in Yenakiyevo remain under their control.

MASSACRE IN DONETSK: AT LEAST 12 INJURED

REPORTS OF DEAD AND WOUNDED

Families of dead civilians will be  paid  250 thousand hryvnia (about 730 thousand rubles), families of dead employees of law enforcement agencies - 800 thousand hryvnia (about 2.3 million rubles), civilians injured - 300 thousand hryvnias (about 880 thousand rubles), employees of law enforcement agencies who were injured - 500 thousand hryvnias (1.4 million rubles).

FINANCES UNDER CONTROL

MINERS OF DONBASS MAY TAKE UP ARMS IF KYIV DOES NOT STOP THE SPECIAL OPERATION IN TWO DAYS


This will happen if within two days Kyiv does not stop the military operation in the region. This was stated on Wednesday by the Deputy Minister of the Coal Industry of the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Konstantin Kuznetsov, speaking in Donetsk at a rally against the military actions of the Ukrainian security forces. "The miners are given two days to stop the so-called anti-terrorist operation. If this does not happen, they take up arms and go to defend their land, wives, children," he said. Commenting on the situation in Donbass, DPR Prime Minister Alexander Borodai told  ITAR-TASS that "it is absolutely clear to every inhabitant of the DPR that under the guise of an anti-terrorist operation, the Nazi junta is carrying out genocide of the population." According to him, for the inhabitants of the region, "this is a patriotic war." "The people of the DPR will fight. First of all, with an external enemy, and then the turn of the oligarchs will come," Borodai is sure.

UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES USE ATTACK AIRCRAFT AND TANKS TO CAPTURE THE VILLAGE OF YAMPOL


The Ukrainian military "will involve about 15-20 tanks and about 30 armored vehicles." Also, as the representative of the DPR pointed out, "air strikes were carried out against Yampol, ground attack aircraft were involved." At the same time, the  source of the ITAR-TASS agency  noted that representatives of the militia "managed to knock out one tank" of the security forces. "At present the situation is difficult," he stressed. According to him, now the military is trying to break through to the city of Seversk in the Artemovsky district. A representative of the press service of the DPR said that there could be casualties and wounded from the side of the militia, but their number is still unknown.

DPR BEGAN THE FORMATION OF THE MINING DIVISION


"In Donetsk, the formation of a division of miners who have decided to defend their homes and families has begun. 500 people have already signed up for the unit," he said. "It is planned that the number of personnel of the Mining Division will reach 10 thousand people,"   the head of the government of the DPR added . "This war is truly patriotic for us," Borodai said.

RUSSIAN BORDER GUARDS AND CUSTOMS OFFICERS WITHDREW 2,000 UKRAINIANS FROM SHELLING IN IZVARINO


Thanks to border guards, customs officers and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation through the Russian checkpoint "Donetsk"  from under fire more than two thousand Ukrainians were withdrawn. They were waiting for a pass to Russia from the Ukrainian multilateral automobile checkpoint (MAPP) "Izvarino" when the battle began there, Sergey Razgonov, acting at Millerovo Customs, told ITAR-TASS on Saturday. "At about 22:00 Moscow time, active hostilities began from the side of the Izvarino checkpoint using automatic and mortar weapons. Border control by Ukraine ceased to be carried out, as the border guards themselves crossed into Russian territory with a request to take cover," Razgonov said. "After that, our employees, together with the border service and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, made every effort to ensure that the line was passed to the territory of the Donetsk checkpoint so that people would not die," he stressed.

SOUTH OSSETIA RECOGNIZED THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE DONETSK PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC


This was  announced  by the President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov. The Supreme Council of the DPR appealed to the leadership of South Ossetia with a request for recognition following the Luhansk Republic. On Friday, at a meeting of the Security Council of South Ossetia, the appeal was considered, after which recognition immediately followed.

DPR MILITIA  TOOK CONTROL  OF AN AIR DEFENSE UNIT WITH BUK ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILE SYSTEMS


Representatives of the militia of the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) took control of the military unit No. A-1402 of air defense (air defense) with anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) "Buk". The number and technical condition of the complexes at the disposal of the militias remains unknown. The press service of the DPR declined to comment on any information about this. "Buk" is a self-propelled air defense system designed to combat maneuvering aerodynamic targets at low and medium altitudes, in conditions of intense electronic countermeasures.

THE DEATH OF AN EMPLOYEE OF CHANNEL ONE


Russian Channel One  confirmed  the death of its cameraman Anatoly Klyan in the Donetsk region. The journalist died from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Read more in our section:  "Hunting for journalists"
