Chronology of events in Kramatorsk

12 April 2014

Representatives of the "People's Militia of Donbass" on the evening of April 12 occupied the building of the Kramatorsk city department of the GUMVD (Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) of the Donetsk region. About 50 armed men entered the building, several shots were fired. According to eyewitnesses, no one was hurt, and no one went to local hospitals. Volunteers occupied the building within a few minutes. Soon, all police officers left him without weapons,   Pavel Volovoy, one of the commanders of the Donbass People's Militia, said.

Protesters in Ukraine  vacated the building of the  Kramatorsk police department, local Radio Vesti reported.

A fighter jet was shot down in Kramatorsk, eyewitnesses reported, adding that there were casualties at the local airfield.

Ukrainian military equipment entered Kramatorsk, several BMD vehicles, along with their crews, went over to the side of the militias, driving through the city with Russian flags. Supporters of the federalization of Ukraine after the battle blocked the exit from the airport occupied by the military.

On the outskirts of Kramatorsk, a clash occurred between the forces of the Ukrainian army and supporters of federalization, after the military attacked a checkpoint of people's self-defense near the village of Semyonovka at the entrance to Kramatorsk from Dnepropetrovsk. As a result of the exchange of fire between the army and the militias, one of the militias was wounded.

Servicemen of the highly mobile airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine returned two of the six units of armored vehicles that were captured in Kramatorsk on April 16.

On the evening of April 18, a group of unidentified people tried to dismantle the barricades around the city council of Kramatorsk. According to Vyacheslav Ponomarev, leader of the people's militia of Slavyansk, only the timely arrival of reinforcements from neighboring Slavyansk made it possible to prevent provocations.

ABOUT THE TV TOWER

The protesters in Kramatorsk again  occupied the television tower  and resumed the broadcasting of Russian channels. This was reported by the press service of the radio broadcasting, radio communication and television concern, which is subordinate to the TV tower.

The people's militia of Kramatorsk took control of the city TV tower, interrupted the broadcasting of Ukrainian channels and turned on the Russian ones, which were previously turned off.

Supporters of federalization, without meeting any resistance, occupied the building of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kramatorsk. Many local residents gathered around the building, some with flags of the Donetsk People's Republic. The flag was also hung on the fence near the building of the Security Council of Ukraine. Earlier, the  building of the city police department was taken under control.

At the airport of Kramatorsk, which is controlled by the forces of the Ukrainian army and is used as one of the springboards for conducting operations against the militias, there was a shootout. The evening before, there were reports that  pro-federalization forces had been observed near the airport.

During a combat clash near the airfield in Kramatorsk, a representative of the SBU and a serviceman of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were wounded.

UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES LAUNCHED AN ASSAULT IN KRAMATORSK

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies launched a special operation in Kramatorsk (Donetsk region). Armed men in unmarked uniforms tried to "cleanse" the city from the "separatists". In the vicinity of Kramatorsk, militants of the National Guard killed a nurse (Yu. Izotova, 21) and three of her friends. The car, in which the young people tried to drive to a safe place, was shot from automatic weapons. According to the Department of Health of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, during the fighting in Kramatorsk, 6 people were killed, 15 people with gunshot wounds were taken to hospitals.

FIGHTING NEAR KRAMATORSK

In the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe villages of Oktyabrskoye and Dmitrovka, there are clashes between  the militias and the National Guard. According to reports, "militiamen knocked out several armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, among them one armored personnel carrier."

UKRAINIAN ARMED FORCES ARE GATHERING TROOPS

Later, soldiers of the so-called National Guard surrounded the village of Oktyabrskoye, located 15 km from the city of Kramatorsk (Donetsk region). As a representative of the militia of Kramatorsk told an ITAR-TASS correspondent, armored vehicles are being drawn into this area, at least three helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have landed.

As a result of armed clashes near Kramatorsk (Donetsk region), six servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, eight more were injured of varying severity.

OPERATION OF UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES NEAR KRAMATORSK

On the evening of May 14, a column of armored vehicles consisting of 10 units, supported by 6 helicopters, entered the settlement of Solntsevo near Starovarvarovka, from where intense shooting was heard for half an hour, including from large-caliber weapons.

 

ON THE USE OF HELICOPTERS WITH UN SYMBOLS

On May 14, the media  reported  on the use of at least three helicopters painted white with UN symbols and identification marks during the special operation near Kramatorsk. According to available information, we are talking about three combat Mi-24s and one transport Mi-8. A video with one of the Mi-24s was posted on YouTube video hosting.

 

EXECUTION OF CIVILIANS NEAR KRAMATORSK

In the Donetsk region, in the vicinity of the village of Aleksandrovka (near Kramatorsk), the Ukrainian military, without warning, opened fire on a minibus and a car with local residents returning from fishing early in the morning. 2 people died, 2 were injured. Another attack on civilians took place in the same area on the road between Novaya Varvarovka and Staraya Varvarovka. A 50-year-old woman who was traveling with her son in a Niva car was stopped by the Ukrainian military and shot in cold blood. The woman died on the spot, her son survived and was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The attackers took the money and documents of the deceased.

UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES SHOT DEAD THREE LOCAL RESIDENTS NEAR KRAMATORSK.

Three more are wounded.
In one of the  shot cars  was a family that was returning home and driving along a country road. The security forces did not let people get out of the car and shot them point blank. As a result, a woman died, she had two gunshot wounds to the head.
In addition, two more cars were shot - a minibus and a passenger car, in which local residents were returning from fishing. Two young men were killed in the minibus. The passenger car was completely riddled with shots from small arms and large-caliber weapons, two people were wounded in it.

After the attack, the security forces drove up to the minibus in two military off-road vehicles and, together with the bodies of the dead, drove it to the location of their unit. The wounded managed to escape, they were hidden by local residents. Soldiers of the National Guard spent several hours looking for them in nearby settlements, breaking into residential buildings.

NEGOTIATION

On May 17, a group of militia held talks with military personnel stationed at the Kramatorsk airfield. A representative of the people's militia told ITAR-TASS that dissatisfaction with the actions of the Kyiv authorities is growing among representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine.
“They say they don’t want to fight, shoot or kill, because many of them are from here. But they refuse to surrender - the order of the command, ”said a representative of the militia. According to him, the security forces have "big problems" with food.
In addition, it became known that about 70 representatives of unknown organizations were stationed with them at the airfield, presumably these are radicals from the Right Sector. “They wear black uniforms without identification marks, they don’t communicate with any of the servicemen,” a militia representative said.

BATTLE NEAR ENERGOMASHSPETSSTAL

Last Sunday, representatives of the people's militia managed to repulse the offensive of the Ukrainian security forces on the city. A column of armored vehicles consisting of six armored personnel carriers could not advance further than the bridge near the Energomashspetsstal plant and retreated.

As a result of artillery shelling, which was carried out by the Ukrainian security forces during the offensive, a girl was wounded. Representatives of the militia also noted that “each combat vehicle had about ten fighters in black uniforms without identification marks, as well as several security forces in camouflage.” Presumably, these are members of the national guard or radicals from the extremist group "Right Sector".

SHELLING OF KRAMATORSK

Ukrainian security forces  shelled Kramatorsk  (Donetsk region) from mortars, one of the shells exploded on Lenin Street not far from summer cottages.

Two more shells exploded in an uninhabited area. The city's self-defense headquarters suggest that in this way "guns are being fired." There are serious problems with mobile communications in the city.
In addition, the militia reported that 15 km from the center of Kramatorsk, between the villages of Belokuzminovka and Semyonovka, three military trucks were seen carrying about 50 people in black uniforms without identification marks.

LEAVING THE POST OF MAYOR OF KRAMATORSK

The mayor of the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, Gennady Kostyukov, has decided to resign early, Ukrainian media reported.

Kostyukov, 67, has served as mayor since 2006. He is a member of the Party of Regions.
According to local media, the city council of Kramatorsk will hold a meeting on May 23 to consider the mayor's petition. The reasons for his decision are not reported.

UKRAINIAN AIR FORCE FIGHTER JETS FLY OVER THE CITY

Ukrainian Air Force fighter jets fly in the sky over Kramatorsk (Donetsk region). In this regard, hospitals received an order to evacuate people from the upper floors. A similar warning, according to him, was received by the city maternity hospital.

“The enemy  fired  mortars and grenade launchers at an electrical substation and a tuberculosis dispensary,” he said.
Earlier it became known that as a result of the shelling, the buildings of a driving school and a food base in the city center were partially destroyed. “The facade from the main entrance of the driving school building on Shkadinova Street and the food base on Shcherbakov Street were destroyed,” he said.
In addition, according to a representative of the militia, several shells exploded in the non-residential sector. “The shelling was carried out from the direction of Karachun,” he said.

 

NEAR KRAMATORSK, MILITIA FOUGHT WITH UKRAINIAN SECURITY FORCES

The press service of the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR)  reported that the fighting is taking place near Kramatorsk, located about 10 km from Slavyansk. In addition, there are problems with telephone communications. As a result of the shelling of Kramatorsk,  four people were killed.

THE MILITIA MANAGED TO RESTORE THE POWER SUPPLY OF KRAMATORSK, DISRUPTED AFTER THE SHELLING

“We have repaired the electrical substation, which yesterday (June 16) was fired from mortars,” said  a representative of the people’s militia.
The day before, Ukrainian security forces shelled several social facilities in the city, including a driving school, a tuberculosis dispensary and an electrical substation. According to the people's militia, as a result of the shelling, 10 civilians were killed, more than 10 people were injured.
